| The Brahe church |
|
| In the 17th century count Magnus Brahe modified the island's
medieval church into an unique example of architecture from Sweden's
period as a great power. It's lavishly decorated and served during
the 17th century as church, museum, art gallery and cabinet of curios.
A visit to the Brahe church gives a good picture of the splendour
that once upon a time characterized Sweden's largest county Visingsborg. |

| The Kumlaby church |
|
| The medieval church of Kumlaby is known for its flat tower
that offers you an excellent view. From 1650 the church served as
a school and the tower was cut off in order to let the pupils do
astronomical observations. Inside the church you can study beautiful
medieval paintings. |

| The Oak
Forest |
|
| During
the Middle Ages the crown had the sole right to the use of the
country's oak trees. Oak-wood was excellent for shipbuilding and
in order to secure the supply of oak wood for the navy the oaks
were planted on Visingsö in 1830. Today the oak trees are timber
able but the wood is used for other purposes than the navy. |

| The Visingsö Museum |
|
| The old Brahe school is a national heritage building with an
unique history. It was built in 1663 as a court of law for Visingsö.
This was during the era when Visingsö was part of Visingsborg County
and count Per Brahe junior defrayed the expense for the building.
Later on the building was used as a school and nowadays it houses
the island's museum. |

|
| The horse drawn "remmalag" is a comfortable and amusing way
to experience Visingsö on shaded country roads. A different way
to get to know the island. You can either go by tours that start
