Kumlaby medieval church was built in the 15th century
and covered with beautiful lime wash paintings that still are
there. The church tower has a platform that was used for astronomical
observations during the 17th century when the building served
as a school. Today you can climb up to the platform and enjoy
the wonderful view. Just nearby lies the 17th century vicarage
that today serves as centre for the local folklore society.
The Brahe church, built on a medieval foundation,
got its current look in the 17th century. The church was then
chapel to Visingsborg castle, the residence of count Per Brahe
junior. During the count's era the church was filled with works
of art from all of Europe and became a mixture in the fashion
of time of church, family memorial temple and art museum. The
church is abundantly decorated with paintings, silver objects
and woodcarvings. It's well worth a visit.
